Our tours are led by guides who understand Oxford’s history, architecture and university culture in depth.
About
If you would like to join a scheduled walk, discuss a private booking or ask about accessibility, group size or Oxford-specific interests, we would be pleased to help. Most departures begin in central Oxford and can be tailored for visitors, families, alumni and organised groups.
Our story
Prairie & Pavement Tours was created for visitors who want more than a checklist of famous buildings. Oxford is a city of scholarship, argument, ritual, green spaces and surprising human detail, and we believe it is best understood at walking pace. Our guides include local historians, Oxford alumni and experienced storytellers who connect the great landmarks with the people who shaped them: reformers, poets, scientists, monarchs, students and town residents. We keep our groups small, plan routes carefully around college access, and make room for questions, photographs and the serendipitous moments that make a walk memorable. Whether you want a classic first introduction, a literary ramble, a family-friendly trail or a private deep dive into architecture and university life, we offer tours that feel informed, polished and unmistakably rooted in Oxford.
Our routes through Oxford are planned for curious travellers who want context as well as landmarks. Each experience balances well-known highlights with quieter streets, local stories and time for questions.
Prairie & Pavement Tours works with knowledgeable local hosts who keep groups comfortable, explain practical meeting details clearly and adapt their delivery to the pace and interests of the guests.
Every booking begins with transparent information about duration, accessibility, inclusions and price. Private itineraries can be adjusted by agreement before the tour, helping visitors make the most of their time in Oxford.
